Some tips for improving texts intended for translation are:

use the active voice
avoid the use of slang
avoid the use of continuous verbs (i.e. verbs ending in ‘ing’)
avoid the use of culturally inappropriate language
avoid grammatically intricate sentences
avoid too many sentences in a paragraph
